This chapter is a song of phrase and triumph after the destruction of the Assyrians. It continues on with the same theme as the previous chapter. Deliverance is the key word, deliverance from the great distress that was caused by the siege of Jerusalem by the Assyrians.
Obviously the siege was used by the Lord to bring fear upon the people for their lack of trust in His protection and the deliverance was the result of the prayers of the good people of Jerusalem. Note is taken that the defeat of the Assyrians was for the glory of God but it also resulted in the enrichment of the Jews who benefited from the spoils of the retreating Assyrians.
The result for a time was the prospering of the Jews and the renewed obedience and trust in God.
