After a prediction of judgment upon the world in the last chapter, here follows a promise of great mercy. To Judah, God's chosen people, and to the Church, God's called people, he prophesies prosperity. He prophesies that miracles will be made on the bodies of men and that the ultimate state of God's people will be one of salvation. Much is spoken here of Christ and Heaven.
Notice Isaiah here speaks of the inclusion of the Gentile, the encouragement of those who stood afar yet hoped in their hearts for God's mercy. He speaks of the miracles that shall be wrought on the bodies as well as the souls of men and the endless joys of this renewed relationship between man and God.
