This chapter proclaims the reward of the "Redeemer" for his persecution. Christ's reward was "payment in full" for our sins and a seat at the right hand of God. The "redeemed" also was rewarded. After the death, resurrection and ascension and the coming of the Holy Spirit, the Church flourished. When the Jews returned from Babylon, they to flourished. and prospered. Thus we see the two great things that are consistently prophesied by the Prophets of the Old Testament, one, the sufferings of the "Redeemer" and two, the glory that would follow.
The chapter begins with the reproach of the "Redeemers" sufferings and the cruelness of His persecutors. It proclaims the predigest of His enemies about His doctrine. It describes His work in four ways. First, in the doing of the Father's will. Second, the atonement of man. Third, the patience with which He suffered and fourth, the success of His labors and the glory that followed.
