A Look Forward Continued

Click here to read Isaiah 66.

This chapter continues like the last chapter with a "look forward". It used many of the same statements and appears at first glance to be a repetition of it. It looks to the different conditions of the "good" and the "bad" among the Jews that return from Babylon. The first verse of this chapter was applied by Steven to prophesy of the destruction of the Temple and the beginning of the Christian Church. Prophesied here is:

  1. The contempt of God of "ceremonial" services.
  2. Complete deliverance of His people.
  3. The ultimate revenge that God will bring upon the enemies of the Church.
  4. The establishment of His Church in the "last days".

We have in this book of Isaiah the greatest of Prophesies concerning God's plan of salvation and how it would be brought about. It foretells the future, to the "last days".
