This chapter tells of the spiritual life of Jeremiah. He was "predestined" to be a Prophet before he was born. He was called in to his ministry at about the age of 16, but he used his youth as an excuse for not accepting his call. But God assured Jeremiah that He would give him the words and the strength and deliver him from all afflictions.
Jeremiah was then given two visions. One, of the forth-coming destruction of Judah, and, the other the destruction of Jerusalem. The visions bore heavily upon Jeremiah. So much responsibility on such a young person but the Lord again told him not to be discouraged by the grave consequences of the job.
