In this chapter, Jeremiah describes the horrible atrocities that will be brought upon the city and the people by the Babylonians. "Men will cry out for death because of their torture."
Here Jeremiah hunts for words to try to understand their stupidity for having rejected God's offer of repentance which resulted in this terrible judgment that was going to come upon them. He makes an effort to describe the destruction that would befall them and mourns what he knows will come true. It seems that Jeremiah was the only one in Judah that believed the warnings of the Lord.
