Jeremiah Mourns Jerusalem

Click here to read Jeremiah 9.

In this chapter, Jeremiah continues to describe the horrible atrocities that will be brought upon the city and the people by the Babylonians. He is faithful in the preaching of God's Word of prophecy but mourns the necessity to do so.

Even in his mourning, he expresses his contempt for them and their sins, which has brought this destruction upon them. He believes that God was justified in what He had decided to do and he hoped that others would learn from it and mourn, as he did, for Judah and for Jerusalem. He, again, warns them of the folly of trusting in some perceived position of favor, instead of trusting in God Himself.
