This chapter begins a series of biographical sketches believed to have been written by Jeremiah's secretary, Baruth. In this chapter we are told of Jeremiah's faithfulness in the expounding of God's Word and how the priests and others persecuted him for doing so. It also tells us how faithfully he stood to his doctrine in spite of persecution.
Yet we are also told of the faithful friends that he had who sheltered him when another Prophet, Urijah, about the same time, was put to death.
