This chapter like the previous three chapters describe Jeremiah's hope for the future. There was no denying the destruction that had come upon Judah but hope for the future is here demonstrated with promises that Jerusalem would be rebuilt to its former state, that the captives, upon having their sins forgiven, would be restored also and that all of this, however hard it may be to understand now, will in due time redound very much to the Glory of God.
Prophesied here is the re-establishment of the Houses of David, Levi and Israel with both joy and plenty making way for the coming of the Kingdom of the Messiah. Promised also is the eternal nature of the gospel ministry which shall continue as long as the earth shall stand.
