Chapters 34 thru 36 describe the siege of Jerusalem. In this chapter Jeremiah proclaims two messages from God. First he foretells the fate of King Zedekiah how he would fall into the hands of the King of Babylon and live there as a captive until he died. The second message was directed to all, prince and pauper, all who had treacherous dealings with God. Those who had, according to the "jubilee year", released their servants from their bondage to them but then went and brought them back as slaves. They had acted harshly to their servants and God would act harshly toward them by bringing the Chaldean Army upon them.
