We continue our story of a man by the name of Johanan who had become a leader of the Jews by delivering them out of the hands of Ishmael and sure bondage. He determined to take them into Egypt but he wanted God's permission to do so. He consulted Jeremiah and Jeremiah told him to remain in Judah where God would take care of them.
It would appear that Johanan had already decided in his heart to go to Egypt and Jeremiah prophesied that if he did, he would die there by the sword. Jeremiah charges Johanan with asking for God's advice and knowing in his heart that he would disobey that advice. For this disobedience they would surly perish.
