Jeremiah continues his effort to awaken these people to the coming doom as the result of their disobedience and idolatry. In spite of his warning these people showed only contempt for God and continued in their idolatries. For this God declared through His Prophet Jeremiah that the King of Babylon would come and destroy the King of Egypt and thus he would be of no protection to them any more and that they to would be destroyed accept for a small number. It is believed by some that because of this prophesy, Jeremiah was stoned to death and buried in Egypt.
