This chapter continues the prophesy of the destruction of Babylon. Though Babylon was used by the Lord for the chastisement of His people, it to would ultimately be destroyed. Here the particulars of that destruction are proclaimed intermixed with the grounds for it. This was done to bring encouragement to the Israelites who had suffered long from her hands. The prophecy is finalized and ratified by the throwing of a copy of it into the River Euphrates.
