Job Asks for Silence

Click here to read Job 13.

Chapter 13 continues his answer to his friends and he asks them to be silent as he considers his plight. He turns the table around; he condemns them for the very things that they have accused him of, reminding them that they were under God's judgment also. Then he turned his questioning toward God. Why had God done this to him? Why would God not help his confusion? Why would God not reveal to him whatever sins he had committed, those that had brought this judgment upon him?

Then Job states his innocence:

  1. "I know that I am righteous."
  2. "You cannot prove me otherwise."

Then he turns his attention to God:

  1. "Don't abandoned me and don't terrify me."
  2. "Let me speak to you, tell me what I have done wrong."
