Job Questions the Creation of Man
Chapter 14 records the ramblings of a confused and beaten man called Job.
Notice what Job's "assessment of life" now is:
- "Life is but a few days full of trouble."
- "It is impure from birth."
- "We have a "pre-determined" life span."
- "When a tree is cut down, a new one spouts from the roots but when a
man dies, he is buried and that's it."
- "Where does his Spirit go?"
- "God makes man old and wrinkled, then sends him away. He never
knows what happens to his sons."
Notice what Job wants God to do:
- "Hide me with the dead."
- "Forget me until your anger ends, but mark your calendar for some
future date, so you won't forget me."
