Eliphaz's Speech

Click here to read Job 22.

Chapter 22 records another attack by Eli-phaz. He condemns Job for complaining when he got what he deserved. He condemns him of high crimes of oppression, injustice, atheism and infidelity, but again offers mercy if Job would repent.

Here Eliphaz seems to debunk the worth of man surly contrary to John 3:16. Notice what he says. "Is mere man any worth to God?" "Even the wisest is of value only to himself." "Would you be any better off if you were perfect?" "Is it because you are good that He is punishing you?" "Not at all, it is because you are wicked." "Maybe you refused to lend money to someone in need or perhaps you refused or food to the needy." "Maybe you sent widows away or broke the arms of orphans." "These poor people will laugh and say, at last our enemy has been destroyed in the fire." "Quite quarreling with God, agree with Him and you will have peace at last." "If you return to God and put right all the wrong that you have done, then you will be restored and the light of Heaven will shine upon your head again." "Yes, He will save the humble and help even sinners."
