Chapters 26 thru 31 are Job's longest and last speech. It is said with emotion and sarcasm. He begins by agreeing with Bildad's assessment of God, proclaims his own integrity, speaks like a "philosopher", recalls his previous comfortable condition, describes his present one and ends with the 11 deadly sins of which he claimed to be innocent.
Chapter 26 records Job's agreement with Bildad's previous assessment of God and man but expresses his lack of appreciation for the council and judgment of his "so called" friends. Job says of them very sarcastically, "What wonderful helpers you are." "You have been so much comfort to me in my need." "You have so enlightened my stupidity." "What wise things you have said." "The dead stand naked before God trembling as they go." "He sets the boundaries for everything." "The pillars of Heaven tremble at His rebuke." "By His power the sea grows calm and the heavens are made beautiful by His spirit." "These are just some of the minor things that He does, who then can withstand His thunder?"
