Chapter 38 brings the final Judge into the picture. Eli-hu's clear and accusing arguments have humbled Job and prepared the way for the Lord. Notice it is the Lord who speaks. Not an angel, but the "Eternal Word", the Second Person of the Trinity. None other than the Son of God. When they all had their say, the Lord spoke.
He began by humbling Job and showing him how little he had to do with things around him. "Why are you using your ignorance to deny my providence?" "Have you ever commanded the dawn to appear or caused the sun to come up in the east?" "Tell me what you know." "Do you know the laws of the universe?" "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?" "What do you know about light, the sea, rain, lightening or the stars." "What do you know about your own soul?" Job was puzzled and ashamed, how could he have questioned the workings of God.
