Chapter 40 records God's demand of Job to answer the many questions He had asked him and Job's humble answer. Then God proceeded to reason with him concerning the infinite distance between the two of them showing that he was, by no means, a match for God.
"Do you still want to argue with me?" Job answered, "I am nothing, how could I ever find the answers." "I lay my hand upon my mouth, I have said to much all ready." Then God said, "Stand up like a man and brace yourself for battle." "Put on your robes of state and vent your anger, humiliate the wicked where they stand." "Knock then into the dust, if you can, then I will agree with you that your strength can save you." "Take a look at the hippopotamus, I made him just as I made you." "He is powerful and ferocious, he is not disturbed by rivers or man." " No one can catch him off guard or put a ring in his nose and lead him away."
