Chapter 2 continues the description of the disaster. It is a day of darkness and gloom. They are like a mighty army. Ahead of the lies land as fair as Eden's Garden, behind them, all is destroyed. They look like tiny horses, they run so fast. Fear grips the people; their faces grow pale with fright. No weapon can stop them. They swarm the cities, they climb the walls, they infest the houses and when they swarm, the sun and moon is hid by their masses. But there is hope; the Lord says turn to me now while there is yet time. Give me your hearts, come weeping and mourning. Return to the Lord for he is gracious and merciful. Sound the trumpet in Zion, bring everyone to the Temple. The priests will stand between the people and the alter, weeping. "Spare your people, O Lord, don't let the heathen destroy them for they are your people."
Then the Lord will pity His people and send much corn, wine and oil to satisfy their need. Rejoice, O people of Jerusalem, for the Lord sends the rain as a token of His forgiveness.
