Jonah's Message

Then the Lord spoke to Jonah again, "Go to the great city of Nineveh as I told you before, "and warn them of their doom." Jonah obeyed and went to Nineveh. He entered the city and began to preach. "Forty days from now Nineveh will be destroyed." They believed him and the people repented from the king down. Everyone put on sackcloth and set in ashes. Then the King of Nineveh put on sackcloth and ordered that no one, not even the animals, would eat or drink anything. Everyone would wear sackcloth, cry unto the Lord and turn from their wicked ways. "Who can tell", the king said, "perhaps even yet God will decide to let us live." And when God saw that they had abandoned their wicked ways, He decided not to destroy them.
