Joshua's First Farewell Sermon

Chapter 23 records for us the first of two farewell sermons, which Joshua preached to Israel. A meeting of all the tribes was called, and Joshua addressed the session. His message was in five parts and was very similar to the one Moses preached.

1. He reminded them of what God had done for them.
2. He reminded them of what God would do for them in the future.
3. He exhorts them to duty and obedience to God.
4. He cautions them against being friendly with their adulterous neighbors.
5. He reminds them of the fatal consequences of idolatry.
