This chapter returns to the single alphabet of 22 stanza' and records an out pouring of the Holy Spirit on Jeremiah, a Spirit of grief over the indignities that was done by the Babylonians to a people to whom respect was once shown. He grieves over the effects of the famine that was caused by the siege of Jerusalem, he grieves over the destruction that was done to Jerusalem, he acknowledges the sins of Israel's leadership that caused all the desolation, he grieves over the ruin that he sees throughout Judah and then he prophecies the destruction of the Edomites who were so instrumental in the destruction of Jerusalem. Finally, he foretells of the ultimate deliverance of Israel from captivity.
