The Meal Offering

Click here to read Leviticus 2.

Chapter 2 describes the second offering. It was called the Meal Offering. Notice the instructions, again one of three offerings were allowed.

  1. Fine Flour. Fine flour with oil and frankincense poured over it was to be given to Aaron's sons who would take a handful of it and burn it upon the Altar and whatever was left over would go to Aaron and his sons.
  2. Unleavened Cakes. These were baked in an oven and mixed with oil, or unleavened wafers spread with oil could be used. Again, a portion would be burned and the remainder would go to Aaron and his sons.
  3. First Fruits of the Corn Harvest. The corn would be cut from the cob, crushed and then parched with fire. Oil and frankincense would then be put upon it with plenty of salt and a portion burnt upon the Altar; I assume the remainder went to Aaron and his sons.
