The Peace Offering
Chapter 3 describes the third offering. It was called the Peace Offering.
Notice the instructions, again one of three offerings were allowed.
- A Cow. This time it could be male or female but both had to be
without blemish. Again as with the first offering, the person
making the offering must lay his hand upon the head of the animal
while the Priest would kill it at door of the Tabernacle. The blood
would be thrown around the Altar and the inward fat, the kidney with
the loin fat, the covering of the liver and some say the gall
bladder would be burnt as an offering unto the Lord.
- A Lamb. The instructions were basically the same as for a cow.
- A Goat. The instructions were basically the same as for a cow.
Verse 17 explains the reason for the way these animals were sacrificed. The
blood and the fat of animals were not to be eaten by people. This would be a
perpetual statue for all generations.
