Click here to read Leviticus 14.

Chapter 14 deals with the cleansing of a Leper. The determination was to be made by the Priest, outside the camp. If he was determined clean:

  1. He was to make a series of offerings. Two clean birds were to be sacrificed. One was to be killed and the other was to be sprinkled with the blood and let go.
  2. On the 8th day, he was to make an offering of 2 male lambs and 1 ewe lamb, and a Cereal Offering. If he is poor, he can make an offering of 1 male lamb, a Cereal Offering and 2 turtledoves or 2 young pigeons.

For future use, a statute was given regarding the cleansing of a house that becomes infected with leprosy. A series of visits is to be made by the Priest and all infected parts of the house are to be removed. If the whole house becomes infected, the whole house is to be burned. If, however, it clears up, the house can be cleaned by a series of offerings. So the laws concerning leprosy were to determine the extent and seriousness of the illness and then to evaluate the progress of healing or lack of it.
