Laws Concerning Priests

Chapter 21 deals with 5 laws concerning priests.

  1. They were prohibited from touching the dead, accept their nearest of kin.
  2. They were prohibited from mourning as the pagans did.
    1. Cutting hunks of hair out of their head.
    2. Shaving off the edges of their beards.
    3. Cutting the flesh and bleeding.
  3. They were prohibited from marrying a harlot or a woman who has been raped or divorced.
  4. If a Priest's daughter becomes a harlot she shall be burned to death.
  5. No ancestor of Aaron's can be ordained as a Priest if he had a birth defect of any kind.
