Chapter 1 thru Chapter 2 verse 9, records Malachi's first Oracle. It is a denouncement of the people, in particular, the Priests. In this chapter he accuses them of being ungrateful, certainly not thankful in proportion to their blessings. The Priests were making inferior sacrifices at the alter of God. They, along with the people, were ungrateful for all that God had done for them. They had become very careless in the observances of the feasts and sacrifices, especially the Priests who were responsible for these ordinances. There was one ordinance in particular for which Malachi condemned them of profaning, it was the maintaining and the keeping up of the ministry, the very thing that the Priests were ordained to do.
