Chapter 3:13 thru 4:3, records the fifth oracle which is a denouncement of the popular belief that there was little reason or profit in obeying the will of God. It is believed that there was an organized effort against religion at that time and even though all Jews enjoyed the blessings of God, there were men of very different character, as there probably will always be in this world. Some were very good and some were very bad, all claiming to be the Sons of God. The "wheat and the tares" all grow in the same field.
The last 3 verses of chapter 4 is an appendix that was added later. It is a solemn conclusion that they were not to expect any more prophecies until the coming of the Messiah.
