Micah begins with a prophecy. "O Bethlehem of Judea, you are but a small village, yet you will be the birthplace of my King who is alive from ages past. God will abandon His people until the time of their "spiritual rebirth". He shall stand and feed his flock in the strength of the Lord and they shall stand there undisturbed for they will be greatly honored around the world. When the Assyrians invade our land, he will appoint seven shepherds to watch over us and eight princes to lead us. (seven always means "complete", seven men that shall have the tenderness and care of a shepherd and 8 men with courage and authority. When God had work to do it pleases Him to do it by a few, He need not raise thousands.)
At the same time I will destroy all the weapons that you depend upon and tare down the walls that defend your cities. I will put an end to all witchcraft and destroy all your idols. Never again will you worship what you have made. I will pour out my vengeance upon the nations that refuse to obey me.
