Chapter 9. Notice these chapters are not in chronological order. This Ordination of the Passover occurred on the 14th. day of the first month of the second year. The census occurred about a month later. Notice this was a change of orders. When it was first instituted, Ex. 12:25, it was to be kept when they came into the Promise Land. Here it is ordered to be kept in the wilderness. Absentee allowances were allowed for those who happened to be unclean at the time of the observance either because of having touched something dead or by reason of being away on a trip. They would be allowed to observe the Passover a month later.
This chapter also records the approval of all that they had done with the Tabernacle and was signified by a "cloud" which up until now, had hung over the camp, but with the approval, it settled over the Tabernacle.
