Instructions on Five Offerings

Chapter 28 deals with ordinances of worship and instructions that would assure that the people would take their religion with them into the Promise Land.

Here the Lord describes 5 offerings as His substance, His pleasure and a pleasing sensation to Him.

  1. The Daily Burnt Offering, 2 young lambs, one year old, without blemish was to be offered daily, one in the morning, and the other in the evening. With them shall be offered a grain offering and a drink offering.
  2. The Sabbath Day Offering, 2 young lambs, one year old, without blemish was to be offered with a grain offering and a drink offering.
  3. The New Moon Offering. At the beginning of each month, 2 young 2 young bulls, one ram, 7 male lambs, one year old, without blemish, to be offered with a grain offering and a drink offering, along with one male goat as a sin offering. All these are in addition to the daily burnt offering.
  4. The "First Fruits" or Pentecost Offering. (Also called the festival of weeks)
    1. On the first day the people will assemble and offer the first fruits of their harvest, along with a burnt offering of 2 young bull one ram, 7 male lambs, one year old, without blemish, along with a cereal (grain) offering and a drink offering.
    2. On the second day the people will offer 12 young bulls, 2 rams, 14 male lambs, one year old, without blemish, along with a cereal offering and a drink offering.
    3. On the third day, the offering is the same accept the number of young bulls is reduced from 12 to 11.
    4. On the fourth day, the offering is the same accept the number of young bulls is reduced from 11 to 10.
    5. On the fifth day, the offering is the same accept the number of young bulls is reduced from 10 to 9.
    6. On the sixth day, the offering is the same accept the number of young bulls is reduced from 9 to 8.
    7. On the seventh day, the offering is the same accept that the number of young bulls is reduced from 8 to 7.
  5. The Offerings for the Feast of Unleavened Bread. On the 14th. day of the first month is the Passover. On the next day they make their offering. For a burnt offering they would offer 2 young bulls, one ram and 7 male lambs, one year old, without blemish. Also, one male goat as a sin offering along with a cereal offering and a drink offering. For 7 days they would eat unleavened bread.
