Govern Our Tongue Well
Proverbs 10 thru 22 are considered to be "doctrinal truths". We are what we
believe. Many think that doctrine is boring and unnecessary, but we all have a
set of beliefs and this, like it or not, is our doctrine.
Here we have 26 recommended doctrines that Solomon gives us in this chapter.
- Be wise for the sake of your Father and Mother.
- Wickedness prophets nothing, righteousness delivers from death.
- Do not be slack; the hand of the diligent becomes rich.
- Be wise and gather in summer.
- Blessings go to the just, but violence goes to the wicked.
- The blessed are remembered, the wicked are not.
- The wise will obey commandments, but a fool will not.
- He that walks uprightly is sure, but the wicked will fall.
- Wink not at sin, for a fool shall fall.
- Life comes from the mouth of the righteous but violence comes from
the wicked.
- Hatred stirs up strife but love covers sin.
- Understanding breads wisdom, but lack of it breads punishment.
- Wise men lay up knowledge; the foolish are content with ignorance.
- Wealth is a man's strength, poverty is his destruction.
- The fruit of the righteous is life; the fruit of the wicked is sin.
- He that follows instructions has life; he that does not is in error.
- Hatred comes from lying lips and slander from a fool.
- A fool uses a multitude of words; few leave the lips of the wise.
- The tongue of the just is silver; the tongue of the fool is of
little value.
- The Lord's blessing makes us rich; there is no sorrow in it.
- A fool delights in mischief, but the wise delights in wisdom.
- The wicked shall pass, but the righteous shall live for eternity.
- those who are lazy are like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the
eyes.
- The fear of the lord will prolong our days but the life of the
wicked shall be shortened.
- Strength for the righteous, weakness to the wicked.
- The mouth of the just will speak wisdom, the wicked will speak
foolishness.
