Doctrines on Kings and Such
In this chapter we have 27 more doctrines by Solomon, which the men of
Hezekiah, King of Judah, wrote for us.
- It is God's privilege to conceal something and the honor of kings to
search it out.
- Heaven, earth and the hearts of kings are un-searchable.
- Punishment refines men like fire does silver.
- Confinement of the wicked makes the nation righteous.
- Show reverence and humility towards our superiors.
- It is better to be asked into the presence of kings than to be
removed.
- Before taking any action, council with your friend less you be put
to shame.
- Talk things over with your neighbor so there won't be any surprises.
- Haste puts you in danger of loosing your case.
- Instruction seasonably given is of great value.
- Instruction that is acceptable is of merit to both the giver and the
receiver.
- A faithful messenger refreshes the soul of those who sent him.
- He that boasts falsely of receiving or giving a gift is like clouds
without rain.
- Patience and speaking without provocation convinces the hard headed.
- Be sober and moderate in the satisfying of our senses.
- Do not be a pest at your neighbor's house.
- A false testimony against your neighbor will ruin him.
- Confidence in an unfaithful person is like leaning on a broken staff.
- If your friend grieves, grieve with him do not try to make him happy.
- If your enemy is thirsty, give him water and if he is hungry, give
him bread.
- In doing this you will heap coals of fire upon his head and the Lord
will reward you.
- Slanderers will not be so eager to speak if we are not so eager to
listen.
- It is better to live alone than with a brawling woman. (written

- News from home is like water to a thirsty man.
- For the righteous to fall in to sin is like the corrupting of a
spring.
- All things must be done in moderation weather eating or self-phrase.
- He that cannot govern his own appetites is like a city with broken
down walls.
