About the Righteous and the Scornful
In this chapter we have 27 more doctrines by Solomon.
- He that hardens his heart shall be destroyed and for this there is
no remedy.
- When the righteous is in authority, the people rejoice but when the
wicked are in authority they mourn.
- He that keeps company with harlots spends his inheritance and causes
his father to mourn.
- The king by judgment establishes the laws of the land but he that is
persuaded by gifts and bribes will destroy it.
- A man that flatters his neighbor spreads a net for him.
- A wicked man is caught in a snare but the righteous man is free and
rejoices.
- The righteous considers the poor but the wicked do not.
- Scornful men bring a city into trouble but the wise will turn away
wrath.
- If a wise man contends with a foolish man there is no contest.
- The bloodthirsty hates the just because the just seek his soul.
- A fool tells it all but the wise saves some for later.
- If a ruler listens to lies his servants are wicked.
- The poor and the deceitful are both enlightened by the Lord.
- The king that is just toward the poor shall reign forever.
- Discipline the child and he will not bring shame to his mother.
- When the wicked multiply, crime multiplies but eventually the
righteous shall se their fall.
- Correct your son and he shall delight your soul.
- Where there is no vision, the people perish.
- A servant that will not be corrected by words may still understand
but is too slothful to obey.
- A man who speaks before he thinks has less hope than a fool.
- A man who raises a servant from a child shall have another son.
- An angry man stirs up strife.
- A man's pride shall bring him down.
- Whoever is a pardoner with a thief hates his own soul.
- The fear of man creates a snare but he who trusts in the Lord is
safe.
- You may seek the favor of the king but judgment comes from the Lord.
- A just man is an abomination to the wicked and the wicked man is an
abomination to the just.
