The Words of King Lemuel

These are the words of a king called Lemuel. Some believe that this is just another name for King Solomon. Either way, they are the inspired words of a writer of simular wisdom.

1. The mother of the writer questions him about his purpose in life.
2. She warns him about wile women and strong drink both of which has destroyed kings
3. Strong drink will cause a king to forget the law and pervert justice.
4. Strong drink is for those who are about to die and wine is for those with a heavy heart.
5. Strong drink will help them forget their poverty and their pain.
6. Speak up for those who are ignorant of their rights.
7. Open your mouth and judge rightly, plead the cause of the poor and needy.
8. Who can find a virtuous woman for her price is above rubles.
9. He husband trusts her so she had no need for charity.
10. She will do him good and not evil.
11. She seeks material and her hands make things willingly.
12. She is like a merchant ship; she brings things to the table from afar.
13. She rises early and prepares food for her husband and those who work with her.
14. She is wise in her appraisal of real estate and cultivates well so that she has food for her table.
15. She exercises for her strength and the work of her hands is good.
16. She takes care of the poor and the needy.
17. She is not afraid of the winter for her household is well clothed.
18. He husband is well known and he sits with the elders of the land.
19. She makes fine linen and sells it.
20. Strength and honor are he characteristics.
21. Her tongue is the law of kindness.
22. She is a good housekeeper and is never lazy.
23. Her children call her blessed.
24. Her husband phrases her.
25. She exceeds the daughters of men.
26. Favor is deceitful and beauty is vane but a woman that fears the Lord shall be phrased.
27. Give her the fruit of her hands and let her own work phrase her.
