The Words of King Lemuel
These are the words of a king called Lemuel. Some believe that this is
just another name for King Solomon. Either way, they are the inspired words
of a writer of simular wisdom.
- The mother of the writer questions him about his purpose in life.
- She warns him about wile women and strong drink both of which has
destroyed kings
- Strong drink will cause a king to forget the law and pervert justice.
- Strong drink is for those who are about to die and wine is for those
with a heavy heart.
- Strong drink will help them forget their poverty and their pain.
- Speak up for those who are ignorant of their rights.
- Open your mouth and judge rightly, plead the cause of the poor and
needy.
- Who can find a virtuous woman for her price is above rubles.
- He husband trusts her so she had no need for charity.
- She will do him good and not evil.
- She seeks material and her hands make things willingly.
- She is like a merchant ship; she brings things to the table from
afar.
- She rises early and prepares food for her husband and those who work
with her.
- She is wise in her appraisal of real estate and cultivates well so
that she has food for her table.
- She exercises for her strength and the work of her hands is good.
- She takes care of the poor and the needy.
- She is not afraid of the winter for her household is well clothed.
- He husband is well known and he sits with the elders of the land.
- She makes fine linen and sells it.
- Strength and honor are he characteristics.
- Her tongue is the law of kindness.
- She is a good housekeeper and is never lazy.
- Her children call her blessed.
- Her husband phrases her.
- She exceeds the daughters of men.
- Favor is deceitful and beauty is vane but a woman that fears the
Lord shall be phrased.
- Give her the fruit of her hands and let her own work phrase her.
