Psalm 5 Author David. A morning prayer for guidance. David is sorely afflicted by his enemies and he takes to himself God's comfort and protection, which he promises in return, to give God all the glory. David prays for guidance in his worship and in his dealings with his enemies. He also asks God to curse the wicked and bless the righteous. He instructs the Chief Musician to accompany this Psalm with flutes.
This Psalm was composed by David for his own encouragement. He promises himself that he would pray and that God would hear him. For this he gives God the glory and himself the comfort. He promises that he will faithfully observe public worship. He ends the Psalm with intercessions for guidance for himself, for deliverance from his enemies and for the people of God that God would give them joy and keep them safe.
