A Prayer for God's Mercy

Click here to read Psalms 6.

Psalm 6 Author David. A prayer for God's mercy. Here David becomes a "weeping prophet" like Jeremiah. This Psalm is useful for us in time of sickness or trial. In it, David reiterates the prayers of Job for the return of God's favor and peace of mind. He addresses three problems, physical sickness, spiritual sickness and his enemies. He instructs the Chief Musician to accompany this Psalm with stringed instruments (Sheminith).

The tone of this Psalm is very much like the tone of the Book of Job. David apparently found himself, like Job, separated from God and begs earnestly for the return of God's favor. He believes that the answer to this prayer will be forth coming to his full satisfaction.
