Pray for people in Authority

Click here to read Psalms 20.

Psalm 20 Author David. Trust not in chariots and horses, but trust in God. Written to the chief musician. Here David asks for prayer from his friends. It describes what they should ask for and gives assurance that God will answer. This is a charge to us to pray for people in authority.

There are two possible uses for this Psalm. It was either written on the occasion of some great victory in war or it was it was a form that was to be used in daily worship on his behalf. Notice what is asked from God for the King: Hear him in his day of trouble, defend him, send help from the sanctuary, remember all of his offerings, accept his burnt sacrifice, do all of this according to your own will and for this the people will set up banners to the Lord and give Him phrase.

Notice while other nations put their trust in instruments of war, the people of Israel put their trust in the Lord for He hears and is faithful and just in his salvation.
