Psalm 21 Author David. Triumph of the King. This Psalm is a prayer of thanksgiving to God for answering the petitions in Psalm 20. David is now King and has had great victories over his enemies and great honor has been bestowed upon him. All this he attributes to God's grace and mercy.

Notice David here instructs the people to congratulate him on his victories and the honor that this achieved. He also instructs them to give God the credit for the destruction of their enemies. The application is more suited to the Messiah than to David and to the Messiah's Kingdom than to Israel.
