Thanksgiving for Deliverance

Click here to read Psalms 30.

Psalm 30 Author David. Phrase for dramatic deliverance. This is a Psalm of thanksgiving for the great deliverance which God had wrought for David. It was sung at the dedication of his house of cedar. Others believe that sense it makes no reference to his house of cedar that it was more likely written on the occasion of his recovery from some bad illness.

Here he phrases God for delivering him and encourages others to do so. He blames himself for whatever his problem was and regrets having complained so much about it. Thus looking back in retrospect he is ashamed of his attitude during his problem and looking forward, he is thankful for the change. In reading this Psalm we might be stirred to complain less and give thanks more.

To associate this with his house of cedar we must go back to the account and see the problems that were encountered and the lack of patience that David, at times, demonstrated and determine for this that David did look back and determine that his attitude during its building left something to be desired.
