A Prayer for Courage

Psalm 31 Author David. Be of good courage. Written to the chief musician, during the time of David's persecution by Saul (I Sam. 23:13). It is a mixture of prayers, phrases and professions of confidence in God.

Verses 1 thru 8 establishes a cheerful attitude in spite of present troubles and demonstrates confidence in God's deliverance. "In thee, O Lord, I put my confidence." In verses 9 thru 18 he complains of the deplorable conditions under which he is forced to live and asks God to deliver him from his persecutors. "Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am in trouble." Verses 19 thru 24 concludes the Psalm with phrase and trust in the Lord and encouraging others to trust in Him also. "O love the Lord, all ye his saints, for the Lord preserveth the faithful."
