Psalm 43 Author unknown. Hope in God. This Psalm may very well have been an appendix to the preceding one. It reflects the authors appeal to God to restore to him his freedom to participate in public meetings. We do not appreciate our freedom to assemble and worship until it is taken from us by force or illness. The author expresses a high hope that God will return that joy to him.
We note verses repeated in this Psalm from the last Psalm; the second verse in this Psalm is the same as the ninth verse of the preceding Psalm and the fifth is the same as the eleventh. Christ did on various occasions repeated Himself.
We do not know what caused David to feel that he could not participate in public meetings but obviously it was either by force from his enemies, illness or by reason of his conscience but here he asks God to restore that privilege to him.
