Psalm 45 Written by The Sons of Korah or perhaps by David for The Sons of Korah. The Psalm of the Great King. Written to the chief musician with instructions that it was to be sung to a well-known tune (Sho-shan-nim). The tunes were called "Lillies". Some also believe that it also designated a "stringed instrument". This Psalm is called a Song of Love. Love for the King, the Messiah, whose thrown will live forever. It speaks of the "Marriage of the Lamb", the "Royal Bridegroom", the Excellency of His Presence, the Righteousness of His Government, the Splendor of His Court and finally, the Marriage Solemnized.
Some believe that this Psalm speaks of the marriage of Solomon to the Daughter of Pharaoh and others believe that it speaks of one of David's marriages but most believe that it speaks of the mystical marriage of Christ to His Church. Verses 6 and 7 certainly bear this out and is further applied in Heb. 1:8. This Psalm must be read with love and evangelism in our heart for it is a song of love for our Lord and an earnest desire that all would come to know Him.
