Click here to read Psalms 57.

Psalm 57 Author David. Prayers in the midst of perils. Written to the chief musician with instructions that it was to be sung to the tune of "Do not Destroy". It was written for private medition on the occasion of David fleeing from Saul and going into a cave. It begins with, "Be merciful unto me", and ends with joy and phrase. In this Psalm there is a new word in the instructions to the Chief Musician. The word, "Al-tach-ith", means "do not destroy". It is not clear if this was the name of a tune or if it was David's command to his men there in the cave when they had a chance to kill Saul, it very well may have been both.
