Psalm 86 Author David. Teach Me Your Way O Lord. No specific instructions to the chief musician. David prayed this Psalm many times and recommended it to others to use at a time of trial. Here he gives God the glory, seeks grace sufficient for the trial and phrases God's goodness.
This was a Psalm that David used many times. His life was a series of trials and tribulations and he found strength each time in this Psalm. It contains a series of steps that lead from depression to deliverance. First he pleads his case, then he seeks Gods understanding, then he phrases God for the audience that he gives and the favors that He bestows. Then he expresses great joy for the honor that He bestows upon him and thanks God for His goodness and mercy toward him and his deliverance from his enemies. In the reading of this Psalm we must do as David did and put our souls literally in God's hands for mercy and deliverance.
