Psalm 92 Author unknown. It is good to phrase the Lord. No specific instructions to the chief musician. May have been written by David. It was a song for the Sabbath Day. A song of phrase for the activities of the Sabbath, in particular, the works of providence and redemption.
The old Jewish writers believed that this Psalm was penned by Adam before sin came into the Garden of Eden but the Psalm speaks of the workers of iniquity so if it really was penned by Adam, he must have been aware of sin perhaps in the world outside of the Garden among the "sons and daughters of men" spoken of in Genesis.
Most modern day scholars believe it was written by David as a teaching on Sabbath Day activities. He allows the Lord's work to be done on the Sabbath, both in redemption and providence. He phrases God for His justice in punishing the wicked and blessing the righteous. In the reading of this Psalm we should be reminded of the commandment to remember the Sabbath Day and to keep it holy.
