Psalm 101 Author David. Commitments of a Holy Life. No specific instructions to the chief musician. It is a declaration by David to God which he made when he took over the Kingdom of Israel when Saul died. It is an excellent plan or model for the organization of government. It practices virtue, piety and good organization. It is applicable for use in family planning. It is often called the "householders psalm".
Some believe that David penned this Psalm when he brought up the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem. It is an excellent plan of organization for any group or family. It phrases meaningful work and condemns the slothful. In it David vows to behave himself and walk in a righteous way before God and to commend and encourage others to do the same.
In the reading of this Psalm, both the governors and the governed, should teach and admonish themselves and others to walk as David vowed that he would that peace might fall upon them and God's presence be with them.
