Psalm 102 Author unknown. Some believe that David wrote this Psalm at the time of Absalom's rebellion, others think it was written by Daniel or Nehemiah during the captivity in Babylon. The Psalm speaks of afflictions. The afflictions of the Messiah, the afflictions of the church of Jesus Christ and the ultimate deliverance, by the Lord, of His people.
So many applications can be made for this Psalm. Though the Author is severely afflicted he finds comfort in the knowledge of the justice of God and the eternity of His people. It appears that it is a prophesy of the "days of the Messiah" and speaks of the afflictions that God's people must endure for His sake. In the reading of this Psalm we should give thanks that we, as yet, are not so afflicted and have compassion on those who have been afflicted and those who will certainly have affliction in the "last days".
