The God of Creation

Click here to read Psalms 104.

Psalm 104 Author unknown. May have been written by David and may very well have been penned at the same time as the last Psalm. The last Psalm begins and ends with the statement, "Bless the Lord, O my soul", as does this one. It is a Psalm rehearsing creation. In the previous Psalm God is defined as the "God of Grace", here He is the "God of Creation". No specific instructions to the chief musician are given. It deliberates the majesty and power of God. He is here phrased as the God of nature.

This Psalm was considered by most Greek and Latin scholars as the most noble and excellent as well as imaginative of all the psalms. It gives God the glory for creating the world, the seas, the dry land, care of all creatures, the course of the sun and moon, the creatures of the sea and sovereign power over all that He has created. In the reading of this Psalm we should join in with the Psalmist in phrasing God and acknowledging Him as the creator of all things.
